Treatment process

Dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid—a substance naturally found in the skin that helps maintain hydration. Alongside enhancing volume, fillers also support hydration and skin renewal, creating a smoother, more refreshed appearance.

Over time, dermal fillers are naturally metabolised by the body. This means the longevity of your results can vary depending on your individual metabolism, with each product having an expected duration as a general guide.

Before Your Appointment

Prior to your treatment, a full consultation will be carried out to assess your suitability. This is an opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns, create a tailored treatment plan, and guide you through the process.

Dermal fillers can be a journey—we prefer to build gradually, allowing for subtle, natural-looking results over time.

To help minimise the risk of bruising, we recommend avoiding blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oils for one week prior (please consult your medical practitioner first).

Post Treatment

Following your appointment, the treated area may feel red and tender for up to 48 hours. Swelling and bruising are common and can take up to one week to settle. In some cases, antihistamines may be recommended (please consult your doctor first).

You may experience mild to moderate discomfort, which should improve over two to five days. Small lumps can also occur and typically soften and settle as the product integrates into the tissue over two to six weeks.

For the first 24 hours, gentle cleansing and your usual skincare routine is fine. However, we recommend avoiding oil-based products, AHAs, retinol, and vitamin C during this time.

Results

Results from dermal fillers can be seen immediately, with optimal results developing over two to six weeks. As the product is naturally broken down by the body, results will gradually fade. Regular treatments can help maintain and prolong your results.

Side Effects & Complications

Severe complications from dermal fillers are rare and can depend on the product used, the treatment area, and technique. Possible side effects include:

• Bruising, bleeding, or swelling at the injection site
• Asymmetry
• Acne-like skin eruptions
• Infection at the injection site
• Lumps or product being felt under the skin
• Skin redness, warmth, or itching
• Skin damage, which may lead to scarring
• Over or under correction
• Skin necrosis (due to reduced blood flow)
• In very rare cases, vision impairment

We are highly trained and experienced in managing any complications should they arise. If you have any concerns following your treatment, please contact us as soon as possible.

Signs to watch for include severe pain, throbbing, blanching (whitening) of the skin, or unusual marks around the treated area. Please do not delay reaching out, even if some time has passed since your treatment.
